Coperni’s announcement that its SS25 presentation would take place in Disneyland Paris garnered excitement in light of the French brand’s affinity for futuristic fashion concepts. However, one of the most impressive feats of the collection goes beyond any runway theatrics: a Disney-blue 3D printed Swipe Bag. While maintaining the famously sleek silhouette, Coperni and Disney reimagined the viral Swipe Bag with the help of an MIT-affiliated lab called Rapid Liquid Print (RLP).

The “Gravity Free” aspect is what makes RLP’s technique different from traditional 3D printing as it draws out the product from inside of a gel suspension. Unburdened by the gravity that usually accompanies conventional 3D manufacturing, the gel-submerged process is optimal for flexible rubber, foam and plastic products ready-for-use in a matter of minutes.

Coperni has made headlines time and time again as it’s ramped up its daring approach to advanced manufacturing processes. For its SS23 presentation, model Bella Hadid was famously used as the canvas for a spray-on dress made with Fabrican, a sprayable liquid fiber.

3D printing has come a long way since its early development at the turn of the 21st century. Outside of fashion, firms like Austin-based ICON are already 3D printing homes directly onto empty properties at rapid rates. Just last week, A$AP Rocky and PUMA launched the Mostro, 3D printed with a perforated resin exterior. As the mode continues to advance, one can only imagine what ideas other brands will bring to life.
