Textural Contrasts Permeate Setchu’s Eclectic FW24 Collection
Also debuting a new machine-washable cashmere and lightweight denim variation.
Returning for Fall/Winter 2024, Satoshi Kuwata has unveiled the latest collection for his label, Setchu. This season, the 2023 LVMH Prize winner continues to explore further into his signature codes, where he amalgamates cues from his Japanese roots with Western aesthetics and sensibilities.
The entire collection encapsulates Setchu’s Japan-meets-West design philosophy. With his Saville Row-trained garment construction and tailoring finesse, traditional silhouettes are reimagined with inventive layering, asymmetric touches, and intriguing textural contrasts. The aforementioned are expressed through eccentric yet cleanly styled looks: from the tartan green look brings a playful and androgynous spin to classic suiting, to the biker jacket-cape-hybrid piece that emulates the appearance of having a hoodie tied across the body.
With the help of Italian mills, the collection also sees the debut of a new machine-washable cashmere material. Additionally, Kuwata introduced an incredibly lightweight Hokkaido denim that’s crafted from paper fiber, cotton and sugarcane yarns.
