Reebok Kicks Up Nike Rivalry With New Ad
Proving less is sometimes better.

As previously reported by Matt Welty at Complex, Reebok recently released a new ad that serves to kick up its rivalry with Nike. The new ad for its Nano X4 sneaker aims to highlight the freedom to switch it up and lean into any kind of fitness challenge while taking some jabs at Nike’s maximalist approach to design.
Posted on Reebok’s Instagram, the ad for the Nano X4 officially unveiled the shoe and took the opportunity to poke fun at the footwear technology innovations over at its competitor.
Marked by sarcastic narration, the Nano X4 is first introduced and playfully given an over-the-top reimagining in the form of sole unit technology additions. Aside from referencing Nike’s sole systems utilized throughout an array of footwear styles, Reebok added rockets and an air conditioning system to the shoe. The ad continues to go more over the top, taking a look to the future with shoes that just don’t make sense, as “less is bad” repeats over a speaker.
