F.A.T. International, a platform celebrating the rich history of motorsport, owned by Ferdi Porsche, has revealed a collaboration with American designer Sean Wotherspoon ahead of its annual Ice Race in Zell am See Austria. The capsule includes over a dozen one-of-a-kind pieces that have been handpicked from across the globe and customized by Wotherspoon.
Notably, F.A.T. was once a logistics company, known for sponsoring two Le Mans winning cars. Today, the group aims to celebrate automotive culture by hosting its own events, including winter festivals and its F.A.T. Ice Races, in both Zell am See and Aspen.
“At F.A.T. International, we believe that cars are more than just modes of transportation – they have the power to bring people together and start a conversation. Whether you are talking about innovation, design or a shared passion, our team is devoted to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere not just for car enthusiasts. We understand F.A.T. as a platform for the automotive culture and the people in it,” shared the brand.
In this same light, F.A.T. has announced a collaboration with Wotherspoon, with a variety of handpicked and customized items soon to be up for grabs, all of which feature Near Field Communication (NFC) integrations for added ownership perks.
Sharing more on the collection, in a conversation with Hypebeast, Wotherspoon said “F.A.T.’s Ice Race has always done merch and exclusive product for their event. This year we wanted to add the layer of hand-picked vintage items, and patches so the attendees could take home something unique. Each piece is fully chipped by my company MNTGE providing a digital ‘receipt’, a kind of proof you attended as well as fully authenticating and numbering each piece on blockchain.”
While Wotherspoon did admit to doing some eBay shopping to amass the collection, the majority of the items in the capsule were handpicked from around the world, with items like the Korean patch button-up and Senna sweater being discovered during a shopping experience with Hypebeast in Bangkok, Thailand.
Despite it being a difficult task, Wotherspoon shared that some of his favorite items in the collection include the satin jackets — which are deadstock from the ’80s — the faded Carhartt pants and the one-piece driving suit. Pricing and availability for the items have not yet been announced at the time of writing, however, an Instagram post from F.A.T. indicates that the capsule will be available “at” the upcoming Ice Race in Zell am See.
