Palace Founder Lev Tanju Is Helming a Modern Sportswear Line for FILA
Tanju has been named creative director of the newly-launched FILA+.

FILA is expanding its horizons with FILA+, a new line that takes the brand’s classic sportswear and injects it with a contemporary twist. For the effort, the brand has enlisted Palace founder Lev Tanju to serve as the line’s creative director.
Seeking to reimagine sportswear “through the lens of modern design,” FILA+ will offer apparel and accessories that approach some of FILA’s classic silhouettes with a fresh take and updated materials. Tanju, who launched the skate brand Palace in 2009, was tapped by FILA for his creative influence in streetwear, as well as his work on collaborations with other big names in sportswear and fashion alike. In the past, Palace has worked on collections with Ralph Lauren, Adidas, Reebok, New Balance and more.
“FILA has such a rich and amazing history spanning over a hundred years. I was blown away by how vast the archive was, and loved all of it,” Tanju shared. “The story of [FILA’s original creative director] Pierluigi Rolando, his drive towards innovation and his groundbreaking advancements really inspired me. I was also fond of the whole Italian FILA team: they are extremely genuine and like a family.”
For FILA+, Tanju has reworked the brand’s logo to feature updated colors that more clearly reflect the Italian flag, using a brighter shade of red and replacing the black with green. Tanju noted that he wants “FILA’s rich Italian heritage to be at the heart of FILA+.”
Tanju’s “forward-thinking approach is aligned with our mission to innovate while honoring FILA’s legacy as a premium sports brand. This partnership emphasizes FILA’s ongoing ambition to be a leader in the sportswear Industry and our dedication to engaging a new base of loyal consumers,” Global Brand President of FILA Todd Klein said.
FILA+ will be distributed globally online and in-store. The line is expected to debut its first collection later this month.
