KidSuper FW24 Made Streetwear Couture a Reality

Colm Dillane isn’t known for having a delicate hand. His loud, graphic-heavy, and unapologetic design language has placed him under fashion’s brightest spotlight, cementing himself as the voice of his generation. Dillane holds his New York City home near and dear to his heart, constantly promoting its boundless diversity through playful menswear. His eponymous label — KidSuper — just stole Paris Fashion Week before closing time, staging a theatrical spectacle that made streetwear couture a reality.
KidSuper’s Fall/Winter 2024 “String Theory” collection commenced with live violinists strumming dramatically while a male ballet dancer twirled down the runway in illustrative suiting. Fabric unraveled at the hands of a gothic bride, marking a new era for KidSuper. “The KidSuper World works in multiple dimensions. KidSuper believes that everything is connected, theoretically explainable but not obvious at first glance,” read the show notes. This statement embodied the collection’s progressive development, beginning with old-school suiting and lopsided top hats.
It quickly migrated into artistic realms, seeing Dillane creatively redefine essential streetwear uniforms. Wool overcoats came embellished with embroidered faces, while puffer jackets donned three-dimensional moss decor. Ultra-chunky scarves brace NYC weather with jumbo-sized tassels, followed by deconstructed trench coats and hooded fur coats in oversized proportions. Flowers bloomed on baggy denim paired with painted outerwear in KidSuper’s abstract style. His signature sketches landed on pastel suits, chunky knitwear, and cropped workwear jackets, delivering sewing machine-shaped bags and clear glass briefcases.
Mid-way through the 42-look collection, Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho Gaúcho stormed the runway — igniting cheers from the star-struck audience. Ronaldinho revealed his previously-teased jersey collaboration in several primary hues, confirming his membership at the “KidSuper Football Club.” That wasn’t the end of KidSuper’s collaborative efforts, debuting continuous partnerships with Canada Goose and the NBA. They mutually expand on Dillane’s multi-year basketball partnership, showcasing paint-splattered outerwear celebrating the 2024 All-Star game on February 18. KidSuper shined a light on the Brooklyn Nets, underscoring the NYC borough with leather-branded bomber jackets and team caps designed exclusively for Brooklyn natives.
KidSuper’s glorious FW24 runway show was rounded out by breathtaking movement, exhibiting crotched garments detangling step by step down the runway.
