KIDILL continues to bring the punk teen spirit for the Fall/Winter 2024 season at Paris Fashion Week.

Titled WHATEVER HAPPENED TO PUNK, the collection is deeply rooted in the London punk subculture in the late 1970s. A continuation from previous seasons, creative director Hiroaki Suiyasu Takes his love for the era to a new heights. Setting the mood for the collection, attendees were prompted with Jamie Reid’s rare “Sue Catwoman Dolls” portrait for the invite. During the early London punk scene, Susan Lucas, also known as Soo Catwoman, was a muse for photographer Bob Gruen. She was also connection to the Sex Pistols and have been known throughout the ’70s for her distinctive hairstyle and later a prominent figure who often showed up on the cover of punk zines. Credited as one of the creators of punk fashion, KIDILL embodies Soo Catwoman, referencing iconic and edgy stylings throughout.

Designer Sueyasu received the news of the passing of British artist of the Sex Pistols infamous covers and logos, Jamie Reid. Paying homage to the artist, Sueyasu said, “Jamie was my very starting point. The loss of something I believed would be in experience somewhat eternally is like a void, he was a stranger, but he was also portraying me. Even though Jamie and the other remarkable figures who created early punk have left us, it is our duty to ensure that the essence of punk, that has influenced our time and our people in countless ways, stays alive. I would like to offer my condolences inimitably”, declaring that ‘they are eternal.”

The collection saw classic punk tropes including plaid vests, kilts with trousers underneath, floral prints and vibrant cheetah prints throughout. Clothing with statements spray painted on and edgy phrases like “Who Killed Bambi?” set the tone for the hard stylizing. From DIY-inspired embellishments, prints to jacquard weaves, the Japanese artist continues to bring early punk classicism to the modern world. Sueyasu return to the roots channeling its punk origins for the rebirth of KIDILL.
