Henrik Vibskov FW24 “Daily Chewing Gum Therapy” Purées Prints and Patterns
The designer found calm in repetition and echoing remedies.
Henrik Vibskov is known for thinking outside of the box. The Danish designer constantly walks on the lines of performance art, holding eye-popping spectacles at Copenhagen Fashion Week every season. Henrik Vibskov’s Fall/Winter 2024 display drew on repetition and found calm in echoing remedies.
Titled “Daily Chewing Gum Therapy,” the showcase was one for the ages, welcoming hundreds of animated guests into Copenhagen’s Øksnehallen conference center. The grey-carpeted venue was lined with slim rows, while the expansive runway was symmetrically charged with pastel cubicles fronted by cartoonish door frames with clear windows. Inflated characters peaked through the openings in spilling dance moves, tumbling out of their trunks in swollen dresses that contorted their natural proportions.
Henrik Vibskov’s FW24 offering reused and recycled dozens of abnormal prints, opening the collection with muddled animal graphics spread across oversized tailoring, cropped outerwear, and slitted skirts. Contrast-stitched textiles followed with simplicity, indulging in classic trench coats, shortened culottes, and more. Prickled flannel warmed into position across several distorted looks once more, paired with matching balaclavas and faux tattoos for an ornamented look that strays from tradition.
