January marks the beginning of a new fashion season for men’s fashion week. Kicking of the Fall/Winter 2024 season, Milan Fashion Week saw continued footwear trends that point towards comfort. For the chilly winter season, comfort and warmth are placed above all else. While Milan brought the standard style in sneakers with key Nike and adidas staples, technical and cozy footwear stood their ground, this week.
Sneakers will forever be a go-to trend in footwear. Starting with the classics, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Elephant Print” and the Nike Air Alpha Force 88 “White/Black” landed on the feet of fashion week attendees. Wales Bonner‘s adidas collabs including the ever popular Sambas prove to be a fan favorite amongst showgoers, as seen in previous fashion weeks like the NYFW SS24. Other collaborations worth noting are the Salomon and MM6 Maison Margiela Cross High XT-4 sneakers. Gorpcore is still in full force, as technical and functional footwear pieces continue to take center stage.
When it comes to comfort, it is difficult to shy away from brands like New Balance and ASICS. The ASICS GEL-Quantum Kinetic “Dark Sepia Shamrock” is an example of the futuristic technical trend making its way to sneakers. Of course, historically Italian brands like Prada and Moncler were obvious brands at play in Milan. Lastly, Uggs slippers proved that they are not only a cozy indoor piece but a fashion statement for the cozy and comfort-focused street style aficionado.
