Last night’s Video Music Awards show was quite the four-hour event. MTV brought a stacked lineup of performers, announcers and attendees to Newark New Jersey’s Prudential Center – who then showed out all night while shattering a slew of records along the way.

While Taylor Swift was the night’s most-awarded artist (taking home nine Moon-Men), she notably landed the first-ever consecutive win for Video of the Year with “Anti-Hero”, and also became the first artist ever to score four awards in the category. Swift now holds the second-highest amount of VMA wins, holding 29 – just one behind Beyonce‘s 30 awards.

The night’s striking emcee Nicki Minaj also broke a record herself, taking home a record fifth award for best hip-hop for “Super Freaky Girl.” The People’s Princess Ice Spice nabbed Best New Artist (the sixth consecutive time a woman has taken home the award), and the rest of the internet’s favorite artists – SZA, Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Minaj, Blackpink, and Olivia Rodrigo – leading the list with the most nominations this year. Peso Pluma took the stage as well, making history as the show’s first Mexican performer.  Shakira offered up a captivating performance array of her hits ahead of accepting the Video Vanguard Award, and Diddy delivered quite the star-studded medley before accepting his Global Icon Award. See the full list of winners below.
