Wales Bonner FW23 Has Arrived
Time for a wardrobe refresh.

Grace Wales Bonner‘s eponymous line, Wales Bonner, is one of the UK’s greatest fashion success stories today. Few other designers have hordes fighting to get into one of their Paris Fashion Week shows, and as evidenced by the recent Spring/Summer 2024 collection, it’s a buzz that’s even taken ahold of Tyler, the Creator, Samuel Ross, and Lewis Hamilton — all very stylish people. Now, you can join this exclusive group with Wales Bonner’s just-dropped Fall/Winter 2023 collection.
FW23 “Twilight Reverie” was, at the time, Wales Bonner’s most extravagant and established show. It followed on from her Pitti Uomo offering, doubling down on the opulence (being held in Paris’ Hôtel D’Évruex), the study of representations of Black male sexuality and identity, and of course, it looked heavily at her cultural influences, combing her British and Jamaican heritage to deliver designs for all. There was a collaboration with adidas, this time honoring the Jamaica National Football Team, the “Reggae Boyz,” as well as garments that spotlighted Savile Row tailoring or Swarovski embellishments.
As for what’s available today, Wales Bonner delivers men’s and womenswear perfect for a Fall/Winter wardrobe re-working. Tailoring comes in the subtle form of a double-breasted blazer and matching wide-fitting “Ivory”-hued slacks, cut in a textured cotton viscose blend for the perfect all-year-round texture and sophistication. On the other end of the spectrum, the Motif jumper in “Ivory/Navy” relies on collegiate undertones while managing to feel adult and luxurious, much like the Kola tracktop, black-and-yellow knit rib top, and the City polo. All are relaxed in their nature, but elevated with the right palette and materials to feel discerning and special.
Womenswear presents co-ords and leans further into the sporting realm with football-inspired tops and trackpants, while tying the FW23 drop together is a range of brooches and necklaces that are made by hand in Ghana using recycled glass beads, clear and emerald Swarovski crystals, Tiger Eye disc beads, and gold plated brass.
