Neymar Secures 2-Year Deal With Saudi Pro League's Al-Hilal
The player will reportedly earn €160 million EUR while paying for the team.
Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has landed a two-year deal to join the Saudi Pro League’s Al-Hilal club, according to reports. The player will make the move, after Al-Hilal agreed to a €90 million EUR fee with Paris Saint-Germain, with the option to extend the contract for a third year.
French newspaper L’Equipe reported that the Brazilian footall start is set to earn approximately €160 million EUR over the next two years while playing for Al-Hilal. Neymar is the newest addition to the team, which also recruited Kalidou Koulibaly, Rúben Neves and Sergej Milinković-Savić earlier this summer.
In June, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund took ownership of Al-Hilal, alongside three other football clubs, including Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli and Al-Ittithad, as part of the country’s “Sports Club Investment and Privatization Project.” Since then, the Saudi Pro League has offered sizable contracts to some of the world’s best players, in line with its fortuitous recruitment strategy.
Neymar’s switch to Al-Hilal marks the end of his six-year-long stint for Paris Saint-Germain. While on the Parisian team, the forward won five Ligue 12 titles and 13 domestic honors, though he fell short of the UEFA Champions League trophy. In 173 appearances, Neymar tallied 118 goals and 77 assists for the club.
