August is nearly a wrap but before it’s marked as complete, there’s a stacked lineup of launches prepared for sneakerheads to enjoy. From there, several key collaborations are slated to get September off to a hot start. Before we dive into the latest from Nike, Jordan Brand, New Balance and Salomon, let’s go over what headlines popped up in the industry across the last seven days.

It was a busy week in terms of features as the latest edition of Sole Mates featured internet comedian Chris Klemens and Martine Rose’s Nike Shox MR4 in “Black/Comet Red.” Vans’ Steve Van Doren sat down with the team to discuss the brand’s focus on London this year while former Nike marketing manager Andy Miguel shared about his work for the Nike Kobe line in celebration of Kobe Day. Lastly, Social Status’ James Whitner connected with Hypebeast to discuss his latest chapter of “The 1st & 15th” story on the Nike Attack.

In other collaborative news, various looks at Nike’s upcoming partner projects included Yoon Ahn revealing the AMBUSH x Nike Air More Uptempo Low in “Black/White,” a first look at a Supreme x Nike Courtposite, detailed breakdown of The Powerpuff Girls x Nike SB Dunk Low “Blossom” and rumors surrounding Union LA taking on the Nike Field General silhouette also arrived. As for Jordan Brand, two Air Jordan 5s for 2024 popped up: the “Olive” and “Lucky Green” looks.

Elsewhere in the industry, Feng Chen Wang joined forces with Crocs to create futuristic slip-ons, UNDEFEATED has outfitted the Converse Weapon in two colorways and The Broken Arm revealed its Salomon X-ALPAGES GTX collaboration.

Now that you’re all caught up on the latest from the sneaker space, let’s dive into this week’s top drops. Afterwards, be sure to slide by HBX to shop sneaker styles that are available now.

Yuto Horigome x Nike SB Dunk Low

Release Date: August 29
Release Price: $130 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: Japan’s Yuto Horigome made history in 2021 at the Summer Olympics when he won the first-ever gold medal in the street skateboarding event. The 24-year-old has continued to amaze the skateboarding community as a Nike SB athlete and is now the latest recipient of an SB Dunk Low collaboration. His take on the sneaker combines suede and leather across the white, gray, brown and pink upper. At the lateral heel, his cross-feather logo appears to complete this skate-ready assemblage.

Air Jordan 5 “Burgundy”

Release Date: August 29
Release Price: $225 USD
Where to Buy: HBX, SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: It’s been seventeen years since Jordan Brand released the Air Jordan 5 in its “Burgundy” form. Now, it’s being reissued for the first time with all of its key details making a return. Its signature red hue graces a soft suede upper while silver detailing appears at the tongue, lining and midfoot windows. Per usual, the spiked midsole makes a return with an icy translucent outsole rounding out the pair.

Nike Air Max 1 “Soft Vinyl”

Release Date: August 30
Release Price: $160 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: There’s been no shortage of Air Max 1 releases from the Swoosh this year. From the retro “Big Bubble” looks to new takes on the sneaker, the silhouette’s fans have been treated to a special year. Now, another fresh theme from Nike touches down on the shoe — introducing the “Soft Vinyl” motif. Inspired by Japanese vinyl toys, translucent detailing and high-polish materials offer a nostalgic finish. Whether you choose to rock them or display them, Nike’s got you covered with a custom box that showcases the pair perfectly.

Nike Zoom KD 3 “Easy Money”

Release Date: August 30
Release Price: $130 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: As Kevin Durant’s signature sneaker line ushers in its sixteenth iteration, Nike has begun to reissue some of his first looks. Looking at the KD 3 in particular, everything from the “All-Star” look to a new “Aunt Pearl” pair is being joined by this “Easy Money” colorway that plays on his Instagram handle — EasyMoneySniper. Key details include repeating “100” notes inside the Swooshes and a sockliner graphic that depicts Kevin Durant on a 35 dollar bill.

New Balance 990v6 Made in USA “Pale Yellow”

Release Date: August 31
Release Price: $220 USD
Where to Buy: New Balance
Why You Should Cop: Since releasing in 2022, the New Balance 990v6 has kept a relatively-quiet profile. Its initial colorways stuck to versatile, lowkey looks but have since expanded to louder tones courtesy of projects such as the Action Bronson-approved pairs. Now, following the reveal of a WTAPS collab on the sneaker, the Teddy Santis-led Made in USA line has again recolored the shoe, offering up a new “Pale Yellow” finish. Suede shares space across the upper alongside mesh and synthetic details that spotlight the aforementioned yellow, off-white, white and forest green. Gray enters the mix at the sizable sole unit while black completes the look at the rubber outsole.

Supreme x Nike SB Dunk “Rammellzee”

Release Date: August 31
Release Price: $130 USD to $140 USD
Where to Buy: Supreme
Why You Should Cop: Back in March, word of another Supreme x Nike SB Dunk collaboration spread quickly with early previews of both the light brown SB Dunk High and black SB Dunk Low highlighted by artwork from the late Rammellzee. Now, it’s finally time for the pairs to make their proper retail debut after popping up at Dover Street Market Singapore in early July. Both pairs see the beloved SB Dunk shape combined with Supreme’s “WORLD FAMOUS.” attitude and Rammellzee’s gothic futurism visuals.

Nike Sabrina 1 “Ionic” & “Spark”

Release Date: September 1
Release Price: $130 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: It’s been months since Sabrina Ionescu and Nike Basketball unveiled the duo’s first signature shoe together — the Nike Sabrina 1. With its rollout nearing its completion, both the “Ionic” and “Spark” looks are set to make a fiery debut. The former puts a twist on her last name, celebrating her iconic level of play, while the latter is packed with an energizing finish. Not to mention, it can be spotted on Ionescu’s cover appearance for the WNBA edition of NBA 2K24.

Palace x Salomon XT-Wings 2

Release Date: September 1
Release Price: $160 USD
Where to Buy: Palace
Why You Should Cop: Since 2019, Palace Skateboards and Salomon have put forth a footwear collaboration each year, save for 2022. Now, the duo is back with all-black and all-white colorways of the XT-Wings 2. Typical Salomon detailing is joined by a “PALACE” hit at the tongue and the skate brand’s Tri-Ferg logo at the heel.

Air Jordan 1 High OG “Palomino”

Release Date: September 2
Release Price: $180 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: Nike and its Jordan Brand subsidiary continue to build new themes and colorways each year. For the Jumpman team, the “Palomino” look is one borrowed from the Swoosh that first landed on the Air Jordan 3 in July and now makes an appearance on the Air Jordan 1 High OG. Here, it decorates the shoe with a black leather base joined by the signature brown hue at the toe box, Swooshes, collar and heel tab in suede.

J Balvin x Air Jordan 3

Release Date: September 2
Release Price: $250 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: Slowly but steadily, J Balvin is working through the Air Jordan series. Beginning on the Air Jordan 1 in 2020, he’s since tackled the AJ2 and now takes on the AJ3. With the 3, the Colombian artist has combined tumbled leather, suede and elephant print to support the colorful heel details that see the “Medellín Sunset” depicted by the purple to yellow gradients.
