With July out of the way, end-of-year plans continue to be revealed from brands with August offering another slate of footwear releases to look forward to. For the month’s first seven days, Nike and its subdivisions of Jordan Brand and Converse are poised to keep sneakerheads busy with an array of key drops. Per usual, we’ll dive into that after reviewing what’s gone down headline-wise this past week.

Another week, another installment in the Sole Mates series. This time around, Tyler Mansour (better known as @arab_lincoln) chatted with the team to discuss becoming a footwear photographer, his love for the Air Foamposite One and more. Elsewhere on the feature end of things, we recapped the 10 best “What The” releases from Nike — looking back at everything from the OG SB Dunk Low “What The Dunk” to CLOT’s recent Dunk Low “What The CLOT.”

Pivoting to the news, the Swoosh had two key silhouettes surface early — LeBron James’ Nike LeBron 21 and Cactus Plant Flea Market’s Nike Air Flea 2. As for team Jumpman, it presented its fall 2023 retro collection, headlined by the Air Jordan 1 High “Palomino,” a “Black Cement” version of the Air Jordan 2 and the return of the Air Jordan 8 “Playoffs.” In addition to this, a first look at the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Celadon” surfaced as well.

Looking at its three-striped opposition, adidas announced its next batch of YEEZY releases with the release of the FOAM RNNR in “Carbon” and the debut of the 450 SLIDE set to take place this time around. Elsewhere in the industry, Crocs shared its revenue report — noting a record-high total of over $1 billion USD in Q2. Lastly, size? revealed its exclusive New Balance 990v3 MADE in USA “Orange/Cream” and Salomon showcased its updated PULSAR REFLECTIVE ADVANCED model.

Now that you’re up to speed on the latest happenings in the footwear industry, here’s an outline of what key drops are going down this week. Don’t forget to hit up HBX to shop available styles afterwards.

ADER error x Converse Chuck 70

Release Date: August 1
Release Price: $120 USD to $140 USD
Where to Buy: Converse
Why You Should Cop: Based out of South Korea, ADER error’s presence in streetwear continues to be recognized worldwide through its collaborative efforts. Joining forces with Converse once again, the duo has reapproached the Chuck 70, outfitting it in low and high-top form. Again applying ADER error’s deconstructed design language, the fusion of the two sees unique detailing sprinkled throughout the build while leveraging the Korean brand’s signature blue and off-white color combination.

Nike Zoom Vomero 5 “Supersonic”

Release Date: August 1
Release Price: $175 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: For Nike, the year of the Zoom Vomero 5 continues with the “Supersonic” colorway carrying notes of black and off-white. The color arrangement stands out with black offering contrast at various overlays and the heel of the midsole. Meanwhile, a glow-in-the-dark material hits the midfoot cage, joining reflective bits and synthetic leather Swooshes. Lastly, the sockliner sees a Seoul-inspired finish dress the pair.

A-COLD-WALL* x Converse Chuck 70 Ox “Pavement”

Release Date: August 1
Release Price: $110 USD
Where to Buy: Converse
Why You Should Cop: After working with Nike extensively, A-COLD-WALL* (ACW) pivoted its focus to Converse. As a duo, they have released several boundary-pushing collaborations that look to Converse’s heritage and ACW’s futuristic approach to design. Elaborating on their work on the Chuck 70 Ox, a third colorway is set to drop — a “Pavement” blend of dark gray and brown. Beyond the modern color arrangement, key detailing includes lateral ACW branding and translucent materials at the sole unit.

Jordan Luka 2 “Matador”

Release Date: August 3
Release Price: $140 USD
Where to Buy: Nike
Why You Should Cop: In June, Jordan Brand and Dallas Mavericks superstar guard Luka Dončić announced his second signature shoe — the Luka 2. Already, it has made noise with releases such as the “Luk.AI,” and now the duo is once again looking to the past with this “Matador” look. Serving as a nod to his time with Real Madrid prior to joining the NBA, the pair sees a blueish-green cover the shoe with white and gold accents enlivening its finish.

Nike Sabrina 1 “Ionic”

Release Date: August 3
Release Price: $125 USD
Where to Buy: Nike
Why You Should Cop: It’s been several months since Nike Basketball and Sabrina Ionescu made noise with the announcement of her first signature shoe with the Swoosh. Now, it’s finally time for fans of the electric young talent to get their hands on the Sabrina 1, starting with the “Ionic” colorway. The pair is equipped with responsiveness to suit her fast-pace movement on the court. Key tech includes full-length React cushioning and a Zoom Air unit at the forefoot. This time around, the color arrangement is a crisp blend of white and various pastels, offering a sharp look to suit any player.

A Ma Maniére x Jordan Air Ship “White/Black”

Release Date: August 3
Release Price: $140 USD
Where to Buy: A Ma Maniére
Why You Should Cop: Across recent years, modern retailer A Ma Maniére has successfully cemented itself as one of Jordan Brand’s most consistent collaborators. Operating across a plethora of Air Jordan models, the label now looks to the Air Ship to craft a pair that is lathered in history. Utilizing the “one before the one,” it has been outfitted with a classic leather presentation in black and white. Elsewhere, the aged sole unit features a yellowed finish that matches the tongue.

AMBUSH x Nike Air More Uptempo Low “Limestone”

Release Date: August 4
Release Price: $190 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: Yoon Ahn’s AMBUSH has a knack for putting a contemporary spin on established designs. With Nike, the two have approached shoes such as the Air Force 1 and adjusted it to balance the two elements gracefully. Now, the label’s take on the Air More Uptempo accomplishes this once again, cutting down the silhouette into low-top form. Its leading “Limestone” look combines a strong yellow at the graffiti-inspired lettering and a sandy finish at the base that is supported by an all-black sole unit.

Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Black Toe”

Release Date: August 4
Release Price: $140 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: It’s no secret that the Air Jordan 1 has played a game changing role in the footwear industry. While this continues to be celebrated with new releases of the silhouette, very few of the original color arrangements are revisited in the brand’s selection each year. However, this week sees the “Black Toe” pair making an appearance. Only one of a few colorways Michael Jordan wore on court in the 84-85 NBA season, it’s set to touch down on the original low-top build, making it a must-have for avid collectors.

Crenshaw Skate Club x Nike SB Dunk Low

Release Date: August 5
Release Price: $130 USD
Where to Buy: Skate Shops
Why You Should Cop: Tobey McIntosh’s Crenshaw Skate Club started as an homage to his local crew, though quickly outgrew this to serve as a mission centered around empowering inner-city skaters around the world. Now, the brand has been placed on one of the biggest stages in SB footwear — a Nike SB Dunk Low collaboration. Packed with details, this pair features everything from a static-like texture at its overlays to a full-length translucent outsole illustration. Keeping his hometown in mind, McIntosh included a “90008” note, representing his home’s zip code, at the bottom of the insole.

Air Jordan 13 “Wolf Grey”

Release Date: August 5
Release Price: $200 USD
Where to Buy: SNKRS
Why You Should Cop: 2023 marks 25 years of the Air Jordan 13 and the special event hasn’t gone unnoticed by Jordan Brand. Following April’s “Black Flint” release of the shoe, the “Wolf Grey” treatment has landed on the silhouette. Its dimpled leather upper has been coated in white while the aforementioned grey colors the heel. Per usual, its signature holographic collar logo returns with a green tint as the panther paw-inspired outsole offers the final touch with a red outline.
