Maurice de Mauriac Pays Tribute to Its Homebase With the New Züri Date Time-Teller
One watch, one city, eight colors.
In celebrating Switzerland’s triennial Züri Fäscht festival, Maurice de Mauriac has released its new Züri Date reference in eight different colors. Spanning blue, green, turquoise, red, orange, black, white, and yellow, all the hues are inspired by omnipresent elements in the city.
Naturally, blue nods to one-half of Zürich’s blue and white coat of arms, hence an obvious color choice for the new Züri Date. In defense of the remaining 7 variants, Maurice de Mauriac’s designer, Leonard Dreifuss explained that the idea came to him during his commute to the studio. “I crossed Paradeplatz on a Zischtig (Tuesday in Swiss German) — and suddenly the colors for the new Züri Date edition were clear. The colors of the trams, omnipresent in Zürich and the backbone of public transport within the city, inspired me,” said Dreifuss.
Each version of the Züri Date is offered in a 39mm and a 42mm sized stainless steel case with a satin finish. The watches are accompanied by a matching steel bracelet or a tonal leather strap. It runs on the ETA 28.34-2, a top automatic movement that has been custom-refined for the brand specifically.
Priced at 3,200 CHF (approximately $3,600 USD), all variations of the Züri Date are now available via Maurice de Mauriac’s official website.
