BMW recently unveiled two of its most ambitious automobile models yet from the brand’s world-renowned M line. The first-ever BMW XM and the all-new BMW M2 were introduced to the public at Singapore’s Pasir Panjang Power Station in an event that showcased the German automaker’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of design, performance, and driving experience.

BMW M automobiles continue to be the pinnacle of automotive standards with their high-powered engines and progressive designs. The brand has amassed a legion of fans around the world with its unflinching influence on car culture, especially the storied legacy of motorsports. Agile, dynamic, and powerful, BMW M caters to the passions of the most discerning drivers by providing a high-performance experience like no other, proving over and over again that “M” is the most powerful letter in the automotive world. With the BMW XM and BMW M2, the German carmaker is paving the way as a thought leader in the future of mobility through innovative technologies and cutting-edge features only BMW can offer.

Powered by Innovation: BMW’s First-Ever BMW XM

Innovation in performance is at the heart of the first-ever BMW XM. Bold yet sophisticated, THE XM is an undeniable showstopper on looks alone, boasting short structural lines along an expansive surface that echo BMW’s modern design aesthetic. THE XM’s front showcases the car brand’s signature kidney grill that’s fitted with split unit headlights, large air intakes, and continuous contour lighting accented in Gold or Black High Gloss. Fans of BMW sports cars will appreciate the horizontal grille bars seen alongside octagonal contours that give the model’s front a more defined look. Additional feature standouts include nods to the design heritage of the BMW M1 – there are the two BMW logos laser-engraved into the rear window and the slightly protruding rear lights. A Gold or Black High Gloss side accent band, diagonal light strips on the flanks, and a louvered structure also recall looks from the BMW M1.

Inside, drivers will swoon over THE XM’s M Lounge, the car’s spacious second row. In terms of trims, door panels are designed with three-dimensional diamond quilting, while the upper backrest and head restraints feature diamond-shaped contours for a modern, sport-style look. In the main cabin, THE XM’s sculptural headliner is a contemporary three-dimensional prism shape. Alcantara surfaces define the look and feel of this segment which possess the same colour as the car’s interior, encompassing the front, rear and side windows. For a futuristic finish, fibre-optic light with 100 LED units are part of the headliner’s “photo mount” border, providing continuous light enhancements reflective of the selected driving mode.

The BMW XM can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds powered by its M HYBRID system. It’s the first plug-in hybrid drive system from BMW M. It’s efficient, powerful and underpinned by a newly developed V8 engine featuring M TwinPower Turbo technology. The BMW XM can deliver 653 hp in combination of its V8 combustion engine with up to 489 hp and the electric drive system with up to 197 hp. The M HYBRID drive system also produces a maximum overall torque of 800 Nm.

In terms of technological innovation, the BMW XM comes standard with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, equipped with the latest-generation multi-sensory vehicle experience BMW iDrive made for BMW M. A curved display runs on the BMW Operating System 8 with M-specific content designed for performance and optimal driving experience. Touch operation, gesture control as well as dialogue using natural language enhances user convenience.

The Legacy of BMW M Continues With the New BMW M2

The all-new BMW M2 boasts the rich heritage of the carmaker’s covetable compact sports cars. Aesthetically, the all-new BMW M2 is athletic in appearance highlighted by its large, frameless BMW kidney grille with horizontal bars. Its head-turning spoiler lip and vertically arranged reflectors also further its sport-forward design. Inside, those seeking optimal comfort will love the option of the BMW M2’s exclusive M Sport seats designed with wider bolsters and contour-shaped backrests and head restraints.

The BMW M2 is a comfortable four-seater with a spacious interior and luggage compartment. THE M2 also boasts an M Carbon Roof which reduces the car’s center of gravity for optimal handling and movement. Additionally, for traction in various driving situations, the model is optimized with an adaptive M suspension you can control electronically. Other notable features include the double-spoke M-light alloy wheels in a bi-color finish.
THE M2 is the only model in its segment equipped with an M TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder inline engine. Its power and performance combined produce a maximum output of 338 kW/460 hp and max torque of 550 Nm. Drivers can choose the dynamic eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic or a six-speed manual gearbox to perform in tandem with THE BMW M2’s powerful engine. Shift paddles are also placed on the steering wheel for sequential gear selection during manual shifts.

The driving experience for THE M2 is also defined by its seamless user experience – you can conveniently arrange and manage user settings with its Curved Display. Check tire pressure, cabin temperature, and more through the easy-to-access widgets. Finally, the M Drive Professional is standard on the BMW M2. Fully deactivate assistance systems through TRACK mode when driving on race circuits or setup controlled drifts based on track surface conditions and personal preferences.
