Nike Creates a "Playground for All" in Seoul
A public sports space consisting of a running track, basketball court, football field, play zone and more.
The public sports space is situated in Geumcheon-gu, southwestern Seoul and was created as a part of the initiative to practice social responsibility and carbon neutrality. Nike Korea aimed to create a sporting experience that gave a new definition to the playground. The brand designed the playground around the idea of inclusivity, bringing youth of all ages, genders and experience levels to compete against one another to reshape their perception of the playground.
The playground is built on 1,613 square meters of land and the sports space itself consists of a running track, basketball court, football field and a play zone. The area is equipped with lockers and floors made from recycled Nike sneakers and clothing donated by consumers. The playground is part of a new initiative spearheaded by Nike to keep youth in active mode. The program features a string of active events that are run throughout the city as the summer approaches and children can enjoy outdoor summer activities.
