From Disco Ball Drama to Slinky Sartorialism, Gucci SS24 Has a Little Bit of Everything

Could this be a glimpse into Sabato De Sarno’s vision for the House?

Gucci is a matter of months away from debuting Sabato De Sarno‘s first collection for the Italian House, and it seems the new Creative Director is already making his aesthetic known. Today, Gucci unveiled its Spring/Summer 2024 menswear collection — not in the form of a runway show, but as a digital lookbook. And while it is currently holding a celebration of the iconic Horsebit during Milan Fashion Week SS24, it hasn’t forgotten to put a spotlight on the men’s seasonal selection.

Elements of House traditions and forward-thinking combine for SS24, as heritage silhouettes are given contemporary twists and new styles are infused with touches of the past. This approach is evident from the very first look — sure, it’s a checkered suit, high-waisted and double-breasted per House norms, but the addition of a slinky, sleek matching vest top underneath updates things with a camp newness.

On the contrary, essentials are just that (albeit with the added luxury of being Gucci). Thus, a royal blue GG emblem sweater and knee-length skater shorts serve a preppy edge when paired with lug sole loafers, as does the washed-black denim ensemble that leans closer towards workwear realms.

SS24 is a full Italian antipasti board — there’s a little bit of everything. Metallic silver GG techwear? Check. Cold-shoulder fisherman knits? Check. That final look that could double as a disco ball. Absolutely.

Take a look at the Gucci SS24 menswear collection in the gallery above, and be sure to stay tuned to Hypebeast for more Milan Fashion Week SS24 coverage.
