Courrèges Is Simplistic Yet Sexy for SS24

From Pride-perfect rainbow vests to slinky dresses, cold shoulders, leathers, zippers, and more.

Nicolas Di Felice is the creative mind behind Courrèges, a futuristic label from the 1960s that has since garnered attention in the fashion scene for its boundary-breaking runways (see Fall/Winter 2023’s tech-consumed offering) and its ability to make simplistic clothing sexy. For Spring/Summer 2024, Felice falls within the latter realm once more, debuting the collection via the means of a lookbook and showroom as part of the wider Paris Fashion Week schedule.

It kicks off with a cold-shoulder jumpsuit, with the sharp and tailored lines up top emulated by slit pockets below. The stark nature is copied over into vests, or jackets with nipple-bearing slits and harnesses, cropped outfits also featuring harsh lines, and in some ways, the cropped T-shirt that bares a slither of stomach.

It’s here we start to understand the NSFW nuances. Dresses are skin-tight and semi-transparent, while a Pride-perfect rainbow mesh vest top reveals all, albeit in a colorful mirage. The distance between the hem of a dress and the top of the thigh-high boot is just enough to get your blood pumping, while harnesses are on the vest to make it easier to take things off once it’s too hot and steamy.

Sex appeal is a tricky thing — too much and it’s tacky, not enough and it’s desperately awkward. Courrèges has nailed it on the head, balancing clothes you can actually wear day-in, day-out, with a naughty nod. It’s not in your face kink, but it’s there — apron dresses, men wearing double-denim skirts, leather arm bands with rivet holes, and plenty of leather is all you need.

Luckily, Courrèges has it all. Take a look at the SS24 collection in the gallery above, and find more Paris Fashion Week SS24 content across Hypebeast.
