Foo Fighters Announce New Album 'But Here We Are'
The band also dropped a new song, titled “Rescued.”
Foo Fighters is gearing up to release a new album, titled But Here We Are, marking the band’s first album since drummer Taylor Hawkins’ passing in March of last year. Ahead of its release, the band has dropped off the forthcoming project’s lead single, titled “Rescued.”
The new track, like the rest of the album, is a response to Hawkins’ death. “It came in a flash/ It came out of nowhere/ It happened so fast/ And then it was over,” Dave Grohl sings. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Is this happening now? Are you feeling what I’m feeling? This is happening now.”
But Here We Are is a “brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year,” according to a release. In March of 2022, Hawkins suddenly died while on tour in Bogotá, Colombia, and the group canceled their remaining shows.
Foo Fighters took to the stage again for two all-star Hawkins tribute shows at the end of last year. The band will continue their tour as well as appear at several festivals beginning in May.
But Here We Are is out on June 2. Listen to “Rescued” above.
