A-COLD-WALL* Treats Its Converse AEON ACTIVE CX Collab to the "Dyed Programme"
Arriving in “Solarised,” “Carbon,” “Marine” and “Redox” shades — and no two are alike.
Samuel Ross is a stickler for experimentation, continuously evolving his own brand A-COLD-WALL* and anything else he touches, such as the brand’s ongoing collaboration with Converse. Now, A-COLD-WALL* and Converse take to the world of hand-applied treatments with the new AEON ACTIVE CX “Dyed Programme.”
That’s not to say that the inaugural pairs were subdued — the laceless pair first arrived in a brutalist fashion before returning in a “Black/Apple Green” colorway. However, these pairs, served in “Solarised,” “Carbon,” “Marine” and “Redox,” feel more in tune with previous Ross collaborations, such as the designer’s 2019 Nike Zoom Vomero +5 “Solarised.”
Working alongside two dye facilities in Italy and the UK, A-COLD-WALL*’s Industrial Design Team works its magic on the AEON ACTIVE CX to submerge the sneakers in the vats of dye. In doing so, the avant-garde silhouette is elevated with a no-two-alike approach, and to honor the limited nature of each pair, ACW serves the sneakers with their own commemorative certificate of authenticity.
Depending on the colorway, the shoe either reveals the original colors underneath a thinner, more transparent layer of dye, or appears caked in the bold color. Either way, you’ll find branding on the mid-panel and asymmetrical tongues, as well as that signature lightweight Crater Foam sole unit and exaggerated kick-heel.
The “Solarised” colorway is a farfetch exclusive and drops on April 19, while the AEON ACTIVE CX “Carbon” launches in May. The AEON ACTIVE CX “Redox” and “Marine” come in June to various retailers worldwide. Take a closer look at the pairs in the gallery above.
