HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE is many things — relaxed, timeless, and playful. But one thing it seldom is, is formal. To solve this, the cult label has released the “TUXEDO PLEATS” capsule, updating its signature pleated aesthetic into one fit for more sartorial occasions.

First seen during the label’s Spring/Summer 2023 runway show, the collection features a tuxedo jacket and matching pants, as well as suiting essentials such as a waistcoat. Those trousers are then updated in another variation sporting a wrap design, while everything in the collection is made of softer and “flowier” fabric than what’s typically used by the House.

Explaining the new wardrobe essentials in more detail, the brand said: “The ‘TUXEDO PLEATS’ series offers refined formalwear, made of a dense pleated fabric in charcoal gray and black. Styles available include a jacket with a clean shoulder line and pants in a silhouette resembling the calla lily.”

The collection is completed with a long, pleated, single-breasted jacket that’s designed to be worn atop of the suit, coming in either black or charcoal gray per the collection’s color palette.
