Jack Harlow Makes Acting Debut in 'White Men Can't Jump' First Look
The remake will premiere on Hulu in May.
Hours before the Grammys on Sunday, 20th Century Studios revealed that the forthcoming White Men Can’t Jump remake, starring Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls, will premiere on Hulu on May 19.
Alongside the release date announcement, the production company shared a first-look trailer for the film, which sees Harlow and Walls’ characters playing basketball and bickering about their picks for the greatest director of our time. “I’m like the P. T. Anderson of basketball psychological warfare,” Harlow’s character says, calling him “our greatest living director.” Walls’ character responds, “Spike Lee is our greatest living director.”
Charlies Kidd II, aka Calmatic, is directing the remake based on a script written by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and Doug Hall. Barris is producing under his Khalabo Ink Society imprint, alongside executive producers Blake Griffin, Ryan Kalil, Noah Weinstein, E. Brian Dobbins and Hall.
The original film, which was written and directed by Ron Shelton in 1992, saw Woody Harrelson star across Wesley Snipes as two street basketball players who ultimately join forces to take over courts across Los Angeles.
Notably, the remake will mark Harlow’s feature film debut. The “Nail Tech” vocalist got the lead part after his first-ever screen audition, which particularly impressed Barris, according to previous reports. Walls, on the other hand, is best known for his role in Sundance’s psychological thriller Nanny and the musical drama series American Soul.
