Kansas City Chiefs Are Your Super Bowl LVII Champions
In a heated back and forth, the Chiefs win 38-35.
It was a slow start for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Trailing the Philadelphia Eagles for most of the entire first three quarters of the NFL Super Bowl LVII Championship Game, the star quarterback led the offensive surge in the late second-half. The Chiefs came out on top with a nail-biting 38-35 victory over the Eagles.
The winning field goal saw Mahomes set up the Chiefs’ win with a big run. A defensive holding call against the Eagles kept the series alive. Throwing three touchdown passes, Mahomes was a force to bring the Chiefs out of their first-half slump. The Eagles fought hard but unfortunately fell short in the last quarter. In the second-half possessions, Philadelphia settled for a field goal which gave the Chiefs their much-needed stage for a comeback. The Chiefs had their first lead of the game to open the fourth quarter, the start of an upward trajectory for the team. Eagles quarterback, Jalen Hurts was a force to be reckoned with, despite the loss. Throwing a memorable 45-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Brown, Hurts also rushed three scores, the second player in NFL history to rush for three or more touchdowns in the Super Bowl.
Kansas City is now the Super Bowl champion for the second time in four seasons. Patrick Mahomes adds to his accolades with a second ring after he led the team from a 10-point down comeback at the half. The Chiefs are the second team in NFL history to have a comeback from a double-digit halftime deficit to win the Super Bowl. Mahomes, the newly-crowned NFL MVP, completed 21 of 27 passes fo 182 yards and three touchdowns, rushing six times for another 44 yards.
