This week, fashion’s biggest headlines spanned the spectrum of trophies, runways, ambassadorships and beyond.

At the top of the list, Jonathan Anderson was honored with the British Designer of the Year award at the 2023 British Fashion Awards for his superb last 12 months at both LOEWE and JW Anderson. Down the line, Nicole Kidman was named Balenciaga’s newest ambassador; NIGO appeared in a brief campaign for Supreme; Jacquemus set the location for its next runway show in January; Pyer Moss announced its “Loot-Out” sale, and Pantone revealed 2024’s Color of the Year.

Jonathan Anderson Won British Designer of the Year

The British Fashion Awards took place this week, taking over Kensington’s Royal Albert Hall to name the top designers of this year in the U.K.

Jonathan Anderson claimed the top prize as the Designer of the Year for his work at both LOEWE and JW Anderson. Behind him, Maximilian Davis won British Womenswear Designer of the Year, for his path-forging work at Ferragamo, and Martine Rose took home the trophy for British Menswear Designer of the Year, following her massively-popular collaborations with Nike and her recent appointment as Clarks’ first guest creative director.

Nicole Kidman Became Balenciaga’s Newest Brand Ambassador

After its much-talked-about Fall 2024 show in Los Angeles, Balenciaga signed on Nicole Kidman as its latest ambassador.

The actress, who attended the show in a black velvet coat dress, announced her new partnership on the same day as the runway spectacle. Kidman boasts an existing relationship with the brand, having walked in Balenciaga’s 51st Haute Couture show.

In a statement released by the label, Kidman said, “Balenciaga has been with me through some of the most memorable events in my life, from my wedding to the Oscars red carpet. I’m excited to work with Balenciaga as an ambassador and look forward to creating more memories together.”

NIGO Posed for Supreme in a Camo Box Logo Hoodie

Just after dropping its Blackmeans Fall 2023 collaboration, Supreme returned to fuel further fan fever with an elusive image of Nigo wearing a camouflage Box Logo Hoodie.

The image sees the BAPE creator stand against a blank white wall, wearing the grey BOGO design that was first used to tease Supreme’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection in August of this year. Nigo boasts his signature hat and shades combo, while holding his hand up to his chest to flaunt a gold ring.

Supreme did not provide any further context surrounding what it might have planned with Nigo, and its caption on the post was rather straightforward: “Nigo, 2023.” It was later changed to include to include the photo credit, reading, “Nigo photographed by Ari Marcopoulos.”

Jacquemus To Host January Runway Show in South of France

Simon Porte Jacquemus is gearing up to show his next collection on a runway in the South of France. The designer will stage his latest wares at Fondation Maeght, a museum located on Colline des Gardettes in Saint-Paul-de-Vence’s village.

The art institute first opened to the public in 1964, under the leadership of Charles de Gaulle’s Culture Minister, André Malraux. It will serve as the backdrop for the French label’s next show on January 29, following the conclusion of Paris Fashion Week Men’s

Jacquemus is known for selecting grand locations for its shows. The brand presented its Fall 2023 “LE CHOUCHOU” collection at Louis XIV’s Palace of Versailles in June.

Pyer Moss Will Hold “The Loot-Out” Sale

Pyer Moss took to Instagram earlier this week to announce its upcoming “The Loot-Out sale, in celebration of the brand’s 10th anniversary.

Marking the label’s second-ever sale, “The Loot-Out” will see customers grab as much product as they can physically wear, with an abundance of ready-to-wear pieces, footwear and accessories up for grabs. “‘The Loot-Out’ draws inspiration from the luxury fashion industry’s global decline, the burgeoning dupe culture, and the recent looting sprees across America,” the video explained.

Those interested in attending the event, which is scheduled to take place in New York City on December 21 and 22, must purchase tickets on the brand’s website. One-minute tickets are going for $100 USD, and five-minute tickets are priced at $300 USD.

“Peachy Fuzz” Is Pantone’s 2024 Color of the Year

Earlier this week, Pantone revealed the 2024 color of the year to “Peachy Fuzz.”

Each year, Pantone’s selection informs much of the fashion industry’s designers, and it’s likely that the pale tone will infiltrate the upcoming seasons’ collections on the runway. The tone’s official name is PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, and it’s described as a “velvety gentle peach tone, whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul.”

The color has already appeared on the Spring/Summer 2024 catwalks for brands including Balmain, Missoni and Kiko Kostadinov in both men’s and women’s collections.

Louis Vuitton Revealed New Frank Gehry Handbags at Art Basel Miami Beach

At Art Basel Miami Beach, Louis Vuitton will preview a selection of handbags designed in collaboration with Pritzker Prize-winning, Canadian-American architect, Frank Gehry.

Organized under four themes — Architecture and Form, Material Exploration, Animals and Gehry’s Twisted Box creation for “Celebrating Monogram”— the stand will become the birthplace for the Louis Vuitton x Frank Gehry limited-edition handbag collection. The line will include designs based on the brand’s classic Capucines silhouette, the Twisted Box Trunk and a Bear With Us Clutch (inspired by Gehry’s 2014 Bear With Us sculpture).

The collection looks to fuse both parties’ artistic codes, with a playful approach to its craftsmanship. Among the standouts, a Capucines Mini Blossom boasts glass-like resin petals galvanized by perfume bottles and a logo reminiscent of the one Gehry created for Fondation Louis Vuitton.
