After presenting his favorite movies from the year – which included Oppenheimer, Anatomy of a Fall and his production company Higher Ground’s very own Leave The World Behind – Barack Obama has officially unveiled his favorite songs from the year as well. With inclusions from Central Cee, Tyla, Brent Faiyaz, Beyoncé, Stormzy and Megan Thee Stallion, Obama’s 2023 Playlist spans 28 songs from a slew of genres.
Obama has selected a run of major rap hits from the year including Dave and Cench’s “Sprinter,” Megan Thee Stallion’s “Cobra” and “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” from Burna Boy and 21 Savage, along with other soulful R&B hits from 6LACK (“Since I Have A Lover”), Brent Faiyaz (“WY@”) and Tems (“Me & U”). Beyoncé’s “America Has a Problem” remix with Kendrick Lamar also makes the cut.
Elsewhere, indie hits like Mitski‘s “My Love Mine All Mine,” Indigo De Souza’s “Younger & Dumber” and Big Thief‘s “Vampire Empire” are featured, as well as Tyla’s breakout hit “Water.”
