Denis Villeneuve is gearing up for his longest film yet. Dune: Part Two is returning to Arrakis with a greater runtime than the first film. Colliderconfirmed that the sequel will run for 166 minutes, which makes it 11 minutes longer than the first film.

Following the events of the first movie which saw House Harkonnen take the spice-rich planet of Arrakis from the House Atreides. The battle was led by the murdered Duke Leto which was played by Oscar Isaac. Lady Jessica and her son Paul, Timothée Chalamet, were exiled to the desert where they attempt to create a new life in Fremen. Javier Bardem who plays Fremen chieftain Stilgar mentors Paul who undergoes training to fulfill the prophecy to become Muad’Dib of the Fremen. He reunites with his friend Gurney Halleck and grows closer to Zendaya’s character, Fremen warrior Chani. In the second film, fans will continue to follow Paul’s quest to fulfill his destiny to reclaim Arrakis.

The film was originally set to release in November, but was later moved to mid March 2024. Now, Dune: Part Two is releasing on March 1, 2024.
