Zack Snyder most recent Netflix project, Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire has garnered huge support, making it to the top most watched films on the platform. In a recent profile with The Atlantic, critically acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan seemingly gives Snyder his flowers.

Nolan goes on record to praise Snyder and all that he has done for the superhero sci-fi genre. Nolan calls Snyder’s influence in cinema to be dominant, “There’s no superhero science-fiction film coming out these days where I don’t see some influence of Zack. When you watch a Zack Snyder film, you see and feel his love for the potential of cinema. The potential of it to be fantastical, to be heightened in its reality, but to move you and to excite you.”

The comments come amidst the rollout for Rebel Moon. Nolan also previously praised Watchmen, the divisive 2009 comic book adaptation. He once said that he has “always believed Watchmen was ahead of its time. The idea of a superhero team, which it so brilliantly subverts, wasn’t yet a thing in movies. It would have been fascinating to see it released post-Avengers.” Snyder’s superhero film career has long been divisive from his Justice League Snyder Cut and beyond. But it appears that Nolan has placed his stamp of support on Snyder, ahead of the second chapter of the upcoming sci-fi franchise on Netflix. Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver arrives on Netflix on April 19, 2024.
