Alex James teamed up with ATLUS to create a two-piece fashion capsule inspired by Persona 5 Tactica’s newest DLC (downloadable content), “Repaint Your Heart Challenge Pack.” The latest spinoff from the massively popular RPG franchise, Persona, debuts returning characters such as Kasumi Yoshizawa and Goro Akechi and a new story to experience. In the latest episode of Hypebeast Visits, James broke down his creative process behind the capsule, which features a jacket and pants set adorned with Japanese-inspired street art and iconography. Since Persona 5 Tactica is officially out across Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, Playstation 4 & 5, Nintendo Switch and Steam, the collaborative duo is bringing a limited-time giveaway to diehard fans so they can rep their fandom in style.

Co-founder of LA-based apparel brand PLEASURES, Alex James, collaborated with ATLUS to create clothing pieces embodying Persona 5 Tactica’s sense of rebellion, looking to music photography, concert posters and graphic typography for inspiration. The ATLUS x James Alex capsule combines PLEASURES’ explosive graphic language and use of iconography with the vibrant world of Persona 5 Tactica. The all-new strategy RPG follows a group of high school vigilantes, known as the Phantom Thieves, in battle against tyrannical leaders. Centered around themes of revolution and jam-packed with heartfelt storylines, the new DLC brings the franchise’s epic battles and character development back to the masses, where gamers can advance through the story as playable protagonist Joker alongside Goro Akechi and Kasumi Yoshizawa.

Across the collection, paint splatters, anime-style panels and Japanese lettering bring the game’s immersive world-building to life, paying homage to fan-favorite characters like Joker, Kasumi Yoshizawa and Goro Akechi. Contrasting neon pink and white illustrations add visual drama to the otherwise all-black ensemble. Highlights of the jacket include a vintage-style zipper, a pointed collar and slanted pockets at the front; on the back panel, a myriad of graphic motifs, from pixelated target points to stylized close-ups of Akechi’s determined gaze, immerse aficionados and newbies in the world of Persona 5 Tactica. As for the pants, a punchy pink “PST” flag logo rests below the pocket seam and cinematic close-ups of each playable character are staggered along the leg. Lastly, “Repaint Your Heart” is painted along the waistband with an “ATLUS” logo stamped above the back pocket as a finishing touch.
