'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' Trailer Teases the Beginning of a New Apocalyptic Chapter
Picking up several years after the events of 2017’s ‘War for the Planet of the Apes.’
The adventures of the Kingdom of the Planets of the Apes is set to grace theatrical screens next spring, following the events of the 2017 War for the Planets of the Apes film.
The 20th Century Studios franchise has a new apocalyptic beginning that continues after the events of Caesar’s death in the last film. This marks the fourth film in the modern Planets of the Apes saga and is set generations after his reign. With apes now becoming the dominant species and humans living in the shadows, a new tyrannical ape has begun to build his empire while a young ape takes on a new journey where he later finds that his actions will determine the future of apes and humans.
The film’s cast features Owen Teague, Kevin Durand, Freya Allen, William H. Macy and Peter Macon. From The Maze Runner trilogy, Wes Ball directs the screenplay from osh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver and Patrick Aison, Jaffa, Silver, Jo Hartwick Jr. and Jason Reed produced the film alongside Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping executive producing. Filming initially began in Sydney in October 2022 and wrapped earlier this year in February. The franchise is based on a novel by Pierre Boulle and has earned over $1.7 billion USD at the global box office. The original series featured six films between 1968 and 2001. The reboot series was released with its first film Rise of the Planet of the Apes in 2011, later followed by films in 2014 and 2017. When Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019 it led to the fourth film going into production.
