Nike and Eliud Kipchoge Launch "EK Umoja Collection"
Celebrating 20 years of partnership.
Nike and Kenyan marathon star Eliud Kipchoge have launched the “EK Umoja Collection,” celebrating 20 years of partnerships together and the athlete’s most iconic moments.
The “EK Umoja Collection” includes a total of five pairs of running shoes, namely the Nike Alphafly 2, Nike Vaporfly 3, Nike Zoom Fly 5, Nike Pegasus 40 and Nike Victory track and field spikes.
It also includes a range of apparel items like the Nike Windrunner, Nike Rise 365 Tee, Nike Stride shorts and Nike Dri-FIT tops, as well as other activewear items.
“‘Umoja’ stands for unity in my native Swahili,” explained Kipchoge, adding “This collection represents the work done together as a running family and community.”
Primary inspiration for the collection stems from Kipchoge’s first 5000-meter world championship in Paris in 2003 — with the red color symbolizing his proud Kenyan heritage and paying tribute to the Nike Kenya suit, running shoe insoles and some clothing items he wore at that time. His winning record that year, “12:52.79,” is printed on the insole of the shoes, alongside his motto “No Human is Limited.”
The “EK Umoja Collection” is available now in select regions through Nike’s official site and at select stores.
