Netflix Announces First Gambling Deal With 'Squid Game' Slot Machines

Netflix has officially inked its first gambling industry deal. To mark the streamer’s new business venture, the company’s first licensing deal with the casino and gambling industry will see a Squid Game slot machine.

The South Korean survival drama has been considered one of the most popular Netflix series of all time. The slot game is based on the show and is built by gaming company Light & Wonder to integrate game elements from Squid Game including the famous Red Light, Green Light, Tug of War and Glass Tile. Light & Wonder will also be releasing a new digital Squid Game-themed game that will feature three bonus rounds based on the survival series.

As per Variety, the upcoming slot machine is set to hit casinos in 2024 and will feature a 75-inch screen with 600,000 individual micro-LED pixels and 27-inch touch screen, mobile charger and dual play buttons “for an immersive and seamless player experience.” Light & Wonder made the announcement at the Global Game Expo (G2E). The news comes shortly after Netflix has announced an immersive pop-up experience in Los Angeles called “Squid Game: The Trials” where players can compete in six different challenges over 70 minutes at $39 USD a ticket.

Season 2 of Squid Game is currently in the works. The reality TV show, Squid Game: The Challenge arrives on Netflix on November 22.
