Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Julia Roberts and Kevin Bacon 'Leave the World Behind' in Apocalyptic Netflix Trailer
When an idyllic vacation turns into chaos.
Netflix is se to release an upcoming apocalyptic thriller starring big names like Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Julia Roberts and Kevin Bacon.
Titled, Leave the World Behind, the film follows the events of a family’s vacation is upended by two strangers arriving in the night claiming to also stay at the same place. The trailer sees Amanda, played by Roberts and he husband Clay (Hawke), as they rent a luxurious home for the weekend with their kids Archie and Rose. Later in the night, G.H. (Ali) and his daughter Ruth (Myha’la) arrive in the night, bearing the news of a mysterious cyberattack and seeking refuge in a house they claim is theirs. The synopsis reads, “The two families reckon with a looming disaster that grows more terrifying by the minute, forcing everyone to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world.” The film is based on the National Book Award-nominated novel by Rumaan Alam of the same name.
The psychological thriller is directed and produced by Sam Esmail. The movie will have its world premiere at the AFI Fest on October 25 and is scheduled to release in select theaters on November 22 before hitting Netflix on December 8. Watch the trailer above.
