The Greek Freak is here to stay at the Milwaukee Bucks. Giannis Antetokounmpo has taken to social media to share that he has agreed to a three-year $186 million USD max extension contract with the team.

Taking to social media he said, “MILWAUKEEEEEEEEE!! Let’s get it!!!! #BucksInSix #Extended.” ESPN was the first toe report that the two-time MVP decided on the three-year extension with a player option for he 2027-28 season. Antetokounmpo’s announcement coms after Minnesota’s Jaden McDaniels, Washington’s Deni Avdija and Orland’s Cole Anthony also reached agreements on contract extensions ahead of the NBA‘s deadline.

In a recent media day on October 2, he explained that he did expect to sign an extension this year, “I said that it did not make sense to sign the contract right now because money’s not important – a lot of money is important. So I’m going to sign it next year.” He shared, “But, no, at the end of the day, again, it doesn’t make sense. It does not make sense for me to sign it right now. I’ve got to always look at what’s best for me and my family, for my situation. But at the end of the day, I want to be a Milwaukee Buck for the rest of my career, as long as we are winning. It’s as simple as that.”

The contract extension begins with 2025-26 season and leaves Antetokounmpo under contract for at least four more years and a fifth if he feels so inclined. Over the next two seasons he will earn $94.4 million USD and he will receive $120 million USD over 2025-26 and the 2026-27 seasons. In 2027-28 he would make approximately $66 million USD more if he takes his option.
