First Look at Mr Bailey’s Experimental Interpretation of ZEGNA’s Triple Stitch™ Sneaker
Initially revealed at the brand’s SS22 runway show.
Presented by ZEGNA

Following months of anticipation, ZEGNA prepares to launch its redesigned Triple Stitch™ sneaker crafted in partnership with conceptual designer Mr Bailey. The new collaboration aims to celebrate luxury design and the brand’s heritage craftsmanship through a finely detailed take on one of its latest footwear additions.

Honing in on various sources of nature-based inspiration, ZEGNA’s artistic director Alessandro Sartori and Mr Bailey begin the design blueprint by exploring the traditional method of Yakisugi on footwear forms. The Japanese wood preservation technique is applied onto a body of soft leather suede with a carbonized finish. It lends a defining reptilian look to the sneaker that comes framed by a hand-applied wraparound midsole.

The collaborative duo continue the nature theme by looking to the Piedmont mountains in Italy, where the Oasi Zegna nature reserve is located. Reimagining the trail sneakers that its hikers would typically wear, the Triple Stitch™ iteration is lined with a breathable and supportive mesh layer. Each element of the silhouette is then secured with a long toggle fastening that slots into its toe box, giving a progressive practicality to the shoe.

Seeing Sartori and Mr Bailey elevate ZEGNA’s century-old heritage in a modernized aesthetic, an assortment of components decorate the design including a logo-inspired cross detailing on the tongue and the addition of the signature “Vicuña” colourway. The features show how the italian brand aims to continuously move forward in its design approach by looking back at its past.
