Seiko Unveils Its Limited-Edition Prospex Save the Ocean Timepiece
Only 5000 pieces will be made.
This year marks the 110th anniversary of Seiko’s Laurel model, which was also the first-ever wristwatch in Japan. To celebrate the iconic timepiece, the watchmaker will be launching a series of watches, starting with the limited-edition Seiko Prospex Save the Ocean watch.
Modeled after the 6105-8000 diver’s watch from 1968, the Prospex is presented in a slim yet robust stainless steel case. Reinforced with super-hard coating, the 41mm case is paired with a textured dial design that draws inspiration from Artic and Antarctic glacial seascapes, as well as landscapes.
Armed with the modern and high-performance 6R35 automatic caliber, the piece comes with a date display, stops second and hand function, with a power reserve of up to 70 hours to boot. Matching the case, the bracelet boasts a five-row steel construction, a three-fold clasp, and a push-button release. As a part of the Save the Ocean series, the watch also comes with an additional and limited-edition strap featuring traditional Siechu braid work, made from recycled plastic bottles.
Launching later this month, the retail price of the Seiko Prospex Save the Ocean watch is yet to be announced, but it’s confirmed that only 5000 pieces will be available for sale. Every unit is engraved with the words “Limited Edition,” along with its unique batch number on its caseback. For more information, head over to Seiko Watches’ official website.
Elsewhere in watches, #FR2 collaborates with Franck Muller for a limited Vanguard timepiece in celebrating the Year of the Rabbit.
