Louis Vuitton Selects KidSuper to Co-create Upcoming FW23 Menswear Collection
Making Colm Dillane the first-ever guest runway designer.
With just a week until the Fall/Winter 2023 season arrives at Paris Fashion Week, Louis Vuitton has made a major announcement regarding its upcoming collection.
Vogue Business has reported that the French luxury fashion house is gearing up for its forthcoming menswear collection by bringing in KidSuper founder, Colm Dillane. This season kicks off Louis Vuitton’s collaborative format and it appears Dillane is the first designer to helm the menswear collection post-Virgil Abloh. It is important to note that Dillane is co-creating the collection and is not taking over as the luxury brand’s menswear Creative Director. In a statement, the house clarified that the show was created by the Louis Vuitton men’s team “with the participation of” Dillane. The house added,
“In other words, Colm is embedded into the men’s studio.”
The show is expected to also feature scenography by Lina Kutsovskaya and French directors Michel and Olivier Gondry, who directed a prelude film for the show. The house also hinted that an appearance from a yet-to-be-disclosed “world-famous music star” is expected to perform. At last season’s SS23 show, Kendrick Lamar performed live alongside the Marching 100 band to pay tribute to Abloh.
The Louis Vuitton FW23 menswear show will be presented on January 19 in Paris. It has not yet been announced if KidSuper founder Colm Dillane will eventually be appointed as the long-term successor to Abloh at Louis Vuitton Menswear.
