NASA Shares One of Its Clearest Images of Neptune's Rings
As well as seven of its moons.
NASA has just released one of the clearest images of Neptune’s rings in 30+ years thanks to the James Webb Space Telescope. Using data collected from infrared light, each ring is clearly visible as well as seven out of Neptune’s 14 moons.
NASA also goes on to explain that the large moon Triton appears so bright as it is covered in frozen, condensed nitrogen which reflects 70% of light — giving it the appearance of a small teal snowflake. On top of Neptune, a small white spiral galaxy was also captured in the image. Check out the Instagram post below for a detailed explanation of each object.
