Here Are the Biggest Street Style Footwear Trends at Milan Fashion Week SS23
Clog-like styles and mules overtake sneakers as most worn footwear.

This Spring/Summer 2023 saw Milan Fashion Week attendees show up in some of the most memorable kicks of the season. In the past year, trend spotters have seen an evident shift towards comfortable footwear, with the clog and mule aesthetic taking over a portion of the market. With the recent uptick in trends led by Crocs and the YEEZY Foam Runners, showgoers are opting for easy-to-wear slip-ons to round out their outfits.
While Hypebeast was on the ground at Milan Fashion Week, the most noticeable footwear trend was the switch from sneakers and loafers to mules. One attendee wore a pair of pelt-like mules that looked similar to the latest MMW Nike Zoom 005 Slide, while another wore a flame-patterned slip-on. Ye’s popularity in the footwear world continues to grow, as his adidas Yeezy Foam Runner in onyx, appeared to be a go-to silhouette for those on their feet all day. The clog aesthetic was perfect for the weather forecast this season, which saw a few showers that interrupted the shows. Not only did showgoers have to be stylish, but weather appropriate. With that in mind, the chunky, plastic clogs or perhaps low-top Bottega Veneta Puddle Boots from FW21, became a staple for functionality and fit.
Nike sneakers continue to make a splash and proved that classic silhouettes just never go out of style. Showgoers worn Nike Dunk Lows and iterations of the Off-White shoes. Trends follow suit from NYFW SS23 as COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS x Nike Air Foamposite One and Nike Air Max Sunder SP and Balenciaga footwear, specifically the Defender, continue to have a major moment as comfy alternatives.
