Instagram Is Testing Out a Feature That Lets Users Repost Others’ Content
Currently available to a small group of select users.
While users can share other users’ content on Facebook and Twitter, Instagram has always lacked such a feature. The social media platform may be trying to catch up to its competitors with an all-new new repost tool.
First spotted by industry analyst Matt Navarra on the profile of Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, the beta feature is billed as a “new way to share with followers.”
Users can “recommend” content that they think their followers would enjoy by not only sharing it to their story, but also posting it on their own feed. Followers can then reply to the repost with a message.

“We’re exploring the ability to reshare posts in Feed — similar to how you can reshare in Stories — so people can share what resonates with them, and so original creators are credited for their work,” a Meta spokesperson confirmed to TechCrunch. “We plan to test this soon with a small number of people.”
Although reposts have been available on Stories for a few years, the test marks the first time the feature is available for a user’s main content feed.
Instagram has yet to share more about its plans for the repost feature, particularly regarding when and if it ever plans to eventually roll it out to the public.
