Daniel Lee Officially Replaces Riccardo Tisci as Chief Creative Officer of Burberry
Confirmed after Tisci showed his final collection for SS23.

Following Burberry‘s show-stopping spectacle and star-studded presentation of its Spring/Summer 2023 collection, the British luxury brand has officially announced that the long-speculated rumor is true. Daniel Lee will officially replace Riccardo Tisci as Chief Creative Officer, who is set to step down by the end of this month.
Tisci has spent almost five years at the brand, spearheading Burberry’s contemporary creative transformation. Under his direction, Burberry has a refreshed image, featuring a new visual identity highlighted by a revived Thomas Burberry Monogram. With Tisci at the helm, he was able to attract a younger and more diverse group of fashion-forward consumers and fans, repositioning the heritage brand’s luxury positioning. His most recent SS23 show was Tisci’s final collection with the brand. In regards to his time with Burberry, Tisci has released an official statement,
“Burberry is a very special place with a magical past and a very promising future. The chapter I was asked to write in its long story is one that I am incredibly proud of and one I have
decided would culminate with my show on Monday. I thrived to continue a legacy of innovation and consistently championed for creativity and diversity, in order to always keep Burberry moving forward.I want to thank my teams, past and present, and the army of collaborators and friends who helped me write a chapter that I hope will stay in Burberry’s future for years to come.”
British-born designer, Daniel Lee will begin his new role at Burberry on Monday, October 3, 2022. In the past, Lee has served as the creative director at Bottega Veneta between 2018 to 2021 before joining Burberry, helping to invigorate the brand to its modern success. Prior to Bottega, he was the director of Celine’s ready-to-wear and had an extensive resumé that included working with Maison Margiela, Balenciaga and Donna Karan. Lee speaks about his new role in a statement,
“I am honored to join Burberry as Chief Creative Officer. Together with the team, we will write the exciting next chapter for this legendary British luxury brand, continuing its historic heritage and building on Riccardo’s legacy. I am very excited to be returning to London, a city that champions pioneering creativity and that continues to inspire me.”
