Birkenstock’s Zurich and Kyoto Silhouettes Come ‘Street Approved’ in Latest Campaign
Modeled by five creatives and tastemakers.

Birkenstock’s new season visuals spotlight five creatives through a diary of low-key snapshots, capturing how they epitomize contemporary streetwear. Hailing from the artistic hubs of Berlin and London, they share which Birkenstock models they’ve adopted in their style including the latest iterations of the Zurich and Kyoto.
Re-envisioning the old in a new light, the Zurich, first released in 1964, has seen constant interpretations from decades of wearers. The closed-toed design, thin straps and signature buckles offer a timeless look, with a napped suede bringing unique softness to the upper. As well as an added foam layer, the wraparound sandal provides comfort for all-day wearability. Encompassing the silhouette’s heritage, British musician Goya Gumbani brings his soulful old-school-meets-new aesthetic to the shoe while founder of deadHYPE, Bernard Koomson introduces a double denim fit to the Birkenstock discourse.
The Kyoto – recently launched in 2020 – comes crafted in a more sleek finish, with a single strap and no buckles. Appealing to those who opt for versatile, slider-style footwear, it boasts an extended grip, durable nubuck leather and other functional additions. In the campaign, fashion retail expert Nehjat Ramoth styles the Kyoto shoe with socks, gilet and balloon-shaped pants – perfectly underscoring the sleep-to-street look.
Meanwhile, London-based Olivia Jankowska chooses lightweight models including the classic Arizona as well as the new, more enclosed, Arosa. Over in Berlin, Mascha Schubbach shares a look at how the Birkenstock can be woven into cooler seasons as she wears Boston clog paired with layers of knitwear, a quilted jacket and cap.
