The game is due from Bandai Namco sometime this year.
Bandai Namco Entertainment has shared a developer diary for the forthcoming title One Piece Odyssey. Based on the long-running manga and spin-off anime series of the same name, the RPG adventure game is launching for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam later this year.
The manga follows Monkey D. Luffy and his gang of pirates, the Straw Hat Crew, as they search for a lost treasure, called “One Piece,” in pursuit of becoming the next King of Pirates.
The 11-minute diary offers viewers an inside look into how the art for the game came together. Developers show original sketches for characters, designed by the manga’s original creator Eiichiro Oda. They also spoke about collaborating with ILCA to transform the manga into an RPG.
Waford, the setting where the main adventure takes place, compiles different environmental elements of the One Piece universe. Developers revealed in the video how they scattered battles and unique twists throughout the game’s landscape.
