For nearly every year since 1985, Nike has released a new model in its legendary Air Jordan line. Given the immense popularity of the series, the Swoosh established the Jordan Brand label in 1997 to push the collaborative pairing of Nike and Michael Jordan to its limits. While countless colorways have been developed by Jordan Brand, the numbered Air Jordan series now hits a total of 37 entries with the introduction of the Air Jordan 37.

In designing the Air Jordan 37, Jordan Brand employed Nike’s Sport Research Lab to focus on the three stages of jumping. The segments outlined include crash, load and launch. From there, suitable technology was integrated to handle each jumping stage. Jordan Brand’s flagship foam, Formula 23, combines with the TPU mold at the shoe’s heel to take on the energy involved in the crashing process of a hard landing. For the load phase, Jordan Brand revisits its carbon fiber midfoot shank last found in the Air Jordan 32. Lastly, a clean launch is supported by a Zoom Air strobel unit that pairs with an additional forefoot unit.

Further detailing includes an updated take on Lenoweave, utilizing Arkema, a strong and pliable yarn. The patterning of the Lenoweave upper draws inspiration from both the Air Jordan 7 and West African basket weaving. Employing a layered reduction take on design, support in the shoe is limited to where its needed. Another callback to the Air Jordan 7 hits the outsole’s color blocking. A “Beyond Borders” look in shades of white, black, purple and red will serve as the launch colorway with the classic “Hare” makeover to follow.

The Air Jordan 37 makes its global debut in September via Nike and select retailers in the “Beyond Borders” colorway. Shortly thereafter, the “Hare” edition will drop later in the fall.

Elsewhere from Jordan Brand, an Air Jordan 5 carrying a GORE-TEX upper is found in “Off-Noir.”
