A-COLD-WALL* and Converse Introduce the Sponge Crater
Continuing the duo’s space inspired theme.
As a subsidiary of Nike, Converse has followed the Swoosh in collaborating with a variety of labels and artists such as Rick Owens DRKSHDW and Tyler, the Creator. Another key partner in recent years has been Samuel Ross’ brand A-COLD-WALL*. Most recently, the partnership worked on the Converse Aeon Active CX and now are set to debut the Converse Sponge Crater.
A “less is more” approach to design outlines the Sponge Crater’s structure, though the shoe itself certainly carries a detailed look. While minimizing components used, the sneaker still offers the latest Converse technologies. The orange flat-knit upper emphasizes breathability while including a spandex collar and gray pull tabs for ease of access. However, the more notable portion of the shoe is the mule cut shell made of Crater and CX foam. Integrating CX foam underfoot to ensure comfort, the gray shell carries a unique texture and A-COLD-WALL* branding.
The A-COLD-WALL* x Converse Sponge Crater debuts via Converse, A-COLD-WALL* and select retailers like HBX on June 23.
In case you missed it, Converse is releasing the Aeon Active CX in “Himalayan Salt” and “Bone” colorways.
