The 2022 Met Gala Red Carpet Brought Out Dripping Jewels, Leather and Gloves
This year’s theme emphasized “Gilded Glamour.”

The 2022 Met Gala celebrated its “first Monday in May” return to the iconic steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, with a star-studded event. The theme for this year’s must-see and must-attend fete was titled In America: An Anthology of Fashion.
As a second installation to 2021’s In America: A Lexicon of Fashion exhibit, this year’s component emphasized “Gilded Glamour,” and will have a corresponding museum exhibit inside The Met. On the red carpet, stars opted for a mix of Fall/Winter 2022 and Spring/Summer 2022 runway trends including leather ensembles, gloves and bespoke denim.
Anderson .Paak opted for a Gucci look with a jewel-encrusted jacket, leather pants and leather tie, Kodi Smit-McPhee donned a tailored shirt with denim trousers and red leather gloves by Bottega Veneta, while Ashton Sanders was decked out in a full denim look with contrasting gold embroidery by Casablanca.
Official co-chairs for the evening were Oscar-winning actress Regina King, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds and Lin-Manuel Miranda, each selected by the event’s organizer – Anna Wintour. The annual event consistently raises millions of dollars for the museum and heralds each year’s new fashion exhibit opening.
With over 600 specially-invited guests, the Met Gala has become a beacon of custom-made attire, along with red carpet hits and misses.
