Bubba Watson Tells The Story Behind New Richard Mille Tourbillon RM 38-02
The golfer finally gets a watch in his lucky shade of pink.
Richard Mille’s latest tourbillon was designed to withstand the extreme G force generated by golfer Bubba Watson’s tee shots.
The fourth watch produced during Watson’s 10 year partnership with the brand and the third tourbillon calibre, the new Tourbillon RM 38-02 Bubba Watson is designed to withstand 10,000G, compared to the 50,000G experienced by a golf ball in the modern game.
Its striking pink and white Quartz TPT case and handpainted pink grade 5 titanium bridges also represents something of a gift to Watson, who is known for playing with a pink Ping driver.
“I have been pushing Richard for a pink watch for ten years and here it is,” says Watson.
The watch is based around a Carbon TPT baseplate and features an asymmetric case designed to prevent contact between the crown and Watson’s wrist when playing.
The Tourbillon RM 38-02 Bubba Watson is available now via Richard Mille for CHF 900,000 (approximately $907,750 USD), as a limited edition of 50 pieces.
