Benedict Cumberbatch recently spoke to HYPEBEAST Korea in a press conference, detailing what fans could expect for the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

When asked about his character development, Cumberbatch discussed the multi-layered persona of Doctor Strange and the difficulties of portraying many versions of him. He said, “I was able to show more diverse versions of him through the multiverse. It also showed a lot of possibilities for what could happen with his decisions and choices.” Cumberbatch also added that the role was quite introspective, “The growth of the protagonist in the film is a very important factor and in this film, the evolution of the protagonist is revealed in several versions so you can look deeply into the answer to the question, ‘Who is Doctor Strange?’”

Leading up to the release of the Marvel film, it comes as no surprise that the rumor mill has been at its all-time high. Fans have speculated that Tom Cruise will be joining the MCU with this film, the reveal of the Illuminati and even the return of Professor X. Cumberbatch jokingly responded, “All rumors are 100% correct. Believe everything you read on the internet. Actually, I was joking because I don’t know what kind of rumors are floating around.”

Doctor Strange 2 arrives in theaters on May 6.

In other entertainment news, director Sam Raimi has contemplated Tobey Maguire for the fourth Spider-Man film.
