AFEW GOODS Is Celebrating 10 Years of "KOI" With a Revitalized Version of Its Yamasura
A 1-of-1, upcycled sneaker in celebration of Japan Day 2022.

It’s been 10 years since AFEW teamed up with ASICS on the original “KOI” sneaker, made in collaboration with the then Head of Asics Germany Lifestyle, Rolf Rainer. Now, in celebration of Japan Day 2022, AFEW’s design-led offshoot AFEW GOODS has released a 1-of-1, 10-year-anniversary-celebrating take on its own Yamasura sneaker, aptly dubbed “KOI.”
The German imprint actually released a recent edition of the Yamasura last year, however, this new version takes on a brand-spanking “KOI” colorway. By merging tones of red, grey and navy, a ’90s throwback has been born that’s perfectly suited for today as AFEW GOODS look to synergize the worlds of sustainability and streetwear like never before.
It has been designed in the same Rolf Rainer workshop that was used a decade ago, using upcycled vegan suede and nubuck mesh throughout the fabrications. The red-colored mesh takes center stage for the toe box and vamp, while the nubuck and suede team up to complement the upper with an organized unison of clean paneling. Name branding can also be seen on the lateral-side rear-quarter heel clip.
Unfortunately, this new edition isn’t for sale. You can see it up close though, AFEW GOODS is teaming up with the Threelittlebirds Bar in Düsseldorf to celebrate its anniversary on May 21, where a “KOI” exhibition will also be held. You can see the Yamasura “KOI” above.
