Kawasaki and adidas Originals Premiere a Nostalgic Campaign Film
Celebrating the release of the Ninja sportbike-inspired ZX 5K Boost and ZX 8000.
The footwear collaboration between heritage Japanese motorcycle company Kawasaki and adidas Originals has officially been released. As promised in recent teaser imagery, a new campaign film has debuted showing the new sneakers alongside Kawasaki’s state-of-the-art Ninja H2R sportbike.
Filmed on the streets of Tokyo, the film pays homage to the thriving Japanese motorbike culture and tells a coming-of-age story fuelled by childhood nostalgia. Set in an atmosphere reminiscent of Wong Kar Wai‘s Fallen Angels and Interstellar, a child who grew up fantasizing about owning a sportbike of his own finally realizes his dream as he opens a dialogue with his father.
“Born out of a shared passion for forward-thinking design and unrelenting innovation, this season, adidas Originals and Kawasaki join forces to celebrate the history and future of ZX with two unique takes on the ZX8000 and ZX 5K BOOST silhouettes,” Kawasaki Motors writes in the description.
Limited quantities of the collaborative ZX 5K Boost and ZX 8000 are currently available on the Kawasaki and adidas websites for $160 and $120 USD respectively. A closer look at the two footwear silhouettes can be found here.
Elsewhere, MINI Cooper JCW will make its return in the 24-Hour Race at the Nürburgring.
